Learning Outcomes
English Language Arts:
-Construct Meaning From Text
-Experience Various Texts
-Respond to Texts
What happens when we are reading? Reading is Thinking. Through this lesson we discussed skills we should be using while we are engaging with text. Each separate skill was presented and then practiced with use of a section of text. Students practiced visualizing, inferring, summarizing, questioning, clarifying, predicting, connecting and synthesizing. This will lead into our lessons next week around the FAB 4.
What Did Students Do?
-Students listened to the teacher read passages from various texts and then practiced the individual skills from our Reading is Thinking lesson
-Students created a visual journal page for "Reading Is Thinking"
Family Connections
Ask your child:
-What are the skills you are using while you are reading?
-Read a passage from a text at your house and practice one or two of these skills
